The psychology of the cold call
Cold calling objection

How to respond to “I'll pass it along.”

Try this: “Thanks. To make that easy, can I send a two-line note you can forward as it is?”

What it usually means

Usually nothing happens next. Passing it on takes effort they probably won't spend.

What to say

You
Thanks. To make that easy, can I send a two-line note you can forward as it is?

Replace anything in brackets with your own words before you say it.

Why it works

A ready-to-forward note removes the effort. How they respond to that offer tells you whether they meant it.

Other ways prospects say it

  • “I'll forward it to the right person.”
  • “I'll let them know.”
  • “I'll mention it.”

Same reflex, same response. Type any version into the Objection Lookup to check.

If they push back again

If they won't take the note, ask for the name of the person so you can mention that they pointed you there. A warm reference beats a forgotten message.

The pattern behind every objection

Acknowledge it with something short and human, ask one question about what sits behind it, then propose a small next step with two options, or exit cleanly. Handle each objection once, never argue it, and log every one so you can see where your message or your list is weak.
