The hard part nobody teaches.
I'm Greg Goldberg. I've spent sixteen years on the phone: twelve carrying a number as a rep, and four leading sales teams. In all that time, the thing that decided whether a rep hit their number was rarely the script.
What I kept seeing.

Top rep in my training class.
Good reps, people who knew exactly what to say, would sit with a list in front of them and not dial. They'd research one more account. They'd rewrite the opener again. They'd take a hang-up personally and let it run the next hour.
Every training I sat through taught the words. Almost none of it touched the half-second before the dial, or what's going on in a stranger's head when an unknown number rings.
The Dial Lab is my attempt to write that part down: why prospects say what they say, what's happening in your own head when you hesitate, and a weekly system simple enough to survive a bad day.
Five rules I work by.
- 01The call you don't make is the only one that's sure to fail. Good enough on the phone beats perfect in a doc.
- 02Objections are reflexes, not verdicts. Answer the reflex calmly and most people give you another thirty seconds.
- 03Motivation is a mood. Put it on the calendar. Call blocks get booked like customer meetings, at the same time each day.
- 04Count dials, not yeses. The last call doesn't get a vote on whether you make the next one.
- 05Review on Friday, not mid-block. Six numbers, twenty minutes, one change for next week.
